Kevin Vast

Kevin Vast is a French photographer who works and lives in New York. Raised in a creative environment, he nurtured a passion for photography in his early years. After earning a degree in information and technology (IT), he started his career as a photographer travelling around the world. During his trips to Madagascar and Palestine, he made "authentic" reportages that captured moments of the lives of the people living in those tormented countries. In 2008 he moved to New York to pursue his dream. Shaped by his reportage background, he applied his vision and techniques to the streets of New York, portraying the city through its diverse inhabitants. From the subway in Manhattan to Ghettoes in Brooklyn, his work conveys the multifaceted messages of this town. Through his signature retouching technique, which consist in increasing images details, giving a glossy effect to them, Kevin transcends raw and underground subjects expressing their emotional and spiritual aspect. Kevin has exhibited his work internationally. His most recent solo shows include one Collective Gallery 173-171 in New York (2009), where he displayed his reportage about Palestine and another in Lille (FR) in 2010, where he showed for the first time in Europe his acclaimed reportage  “Bed Style”, a series that Kevin shot while closely following the daily life of a gang in the neighborhood of Bed Stuy (Brooklyn).
